Location Capital: The Valley into Located north of the Leeward Islands, surrounding islands include Scrub, Seal, Dog, and Sombrero Islands and Prickly Pear Cays. Traveling to Anguilla ? There are two main ways to get to Anguilla: 1.) Fly to St. Maarten and ferry over (more of the scenic route) 2.) Direct flight into AXA (Anguilla Wallblake Airport) People & History Population: 15,054 Anguilla's population is a mix that includes native Caribbean people from northern South America , and the c aucasians that came from British descent. T he majority of the population today is of African descent.  Anguilla was colonized by British settlers in 1650 and has been a British territory since then. Rumor has is that Christopher Columbus named the Country after the French word  anguilla  which means eel in Italian  because from a distance it resembled an eel. Nothing too exciting about me, I usually prefer not to talk about myself but more about my family and friends. If you must know I am 21 years of age, a GGC biology major student, an animal lover and hopefully a future veterinarian.
